I take it that you are interested in making your slow computer faster. I’ll let you in on a little secret: tune your virtual memory. Your computer has something called a hard drive which it uses to store files on and something called your RAM (Random Access Memory) that it uses to work with files and programs temporarily. When your computer turns off, the information that was on the hard drive will still be there when you turn it back on, but the information on your RAM will be gone. That’s why it’s a temporary working place.

It then has a choice: either tell you that you cannot open any more programs or find a new place to use as its temporary work place. This new place is called virtual memory and is located on your hard drive. The name for the space on your hard drive that the virtual memory occupies is called a Paging File. If you want your slow computer to run a bit quicker all you have to do is to tune your computer Paging File. Here’s how to do it:

If you using Windows XP, click Start, right click My Computer and select Properties. Click on the Advanced tab and then under the section that says Performance, click on Settings. In this window, click on the Advanced tab and under Virtual Memory, click Change. Look under where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” and make sure that C: is selected (it should be highlighted blue). Now look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size.

Now look in the section that says “Total page file size for all drives section”. Under there you should take not of the amount that it says is Recommended. What ever that specific number is, type it exaclty as you see it into both boxes that say “Initial Size” and “Maximum Size”. Now you Click Set, and then Ok. To finish off, just click on Apply on the next window and then OK to cllose it.

If you are using Windows Vista, click Start, click on Control Panel, on the left hand side make sure Classic View is selected and then double click on the System icon. On the left side of the window, click on the Advanced System Settings. Click on the Advanced tab and then under the section that says Performance, click on Settings. In this window, click on the Advanced tab and under Virtual Memory, click Change. Uncheck the “Automatically manage paging file size for all drivers”. Look under where it says “Drive [Volume Label]” and make sure that C: is selected (it should be highlighted blue). Now look under Page file size for selected drive and select Custom Size. Where it says “Total page file size for all drives section” look at the amount that says Recommended. What ever number it says is recommended, type that into both boxes where it says Initial Size and Maximum Size. Click Set, then Ok and then on the next window click on Apply and then OK.

Most computers will slow down within time and its actually natural for them do this. There reason for this is because when you first get your computer, it’s fresh and new. Then after time of being used junk will start to build up on it.

This “junk” is what causes it to slow down and is the main reason as to why you have a slow computer. The less junk that you have on your computer, the faster it will run. It’s that simple. This is why it is critical that you perform regular maintenance tasks on your computer to keep it in tip top shape.

One of the best places to start doing some regular maintenance on your slow computer is to start with your hard drive. Your hard drive is the central storage place for all of your files and keeping it in good working order will make sure that your computer will be running efficiently. Also, by keeping your hard drive in a good healthy state will prevent a hard drive failure which is the loss of all of your data.

Click Start, and go to My Computer (for those you that are using Vista just click on Computer icon). Now right click on you local drive (the C:) and click on Properties. Now, in the Properties window, click the Tools tab and double click on the Check Now button. Once yourin the Check Disk window, check off “Automatically Fix File System Errors” and also check off “Scan For And Attempt To Recover For Bad Sectors”. Click start and chances are that it will say that you need to perform a restart. Just restart your computer and when you come back it will launch the program.

By using this specific program on your computer what you are doing is forcing your computer check it’s hard drive for any potential problems that might occur or are currently dwelling on your computer. Then what the program does is it tries to fix these problems so that in the long run they will not develop into larger problems which might get out of contorl. These types of problems tend to occur as a result from when your comptuer encounters some from of a prblem like it freezes or if you did something like turn off your computer suddenly.

It always happens to any computer that different weird signs things start to occur, like probably different warning messages or computer crashes.

These things are usually your computer’s way of telling you that something is up especially when all your programs seem to be working well and your hardware is up to date.

A few months ago, I got all these weird things from my computer so I tried to do something about it by installing a kind of antivirus software on my computer.

I tried scanning but it couldn’t find anything. Then next thing I did was to install anti-spyware software thinking it might be because of malwares. Still nothing happened. It was then that I realized that the problem must’ve been due to my registry.

A friend suggested that I try checking out my registry. The registry is that part of you computer that stores all the important things related to your computer’s performance.

An example of this vital information is the hardware details of your computer and the different system setting that you have. As you keep on using your computer, these files will start to get corrupted and cause errors.

The problem isn’t that serious that you’ll have to purchase a new computer. You can remedy the problem just by installing a registry fixing software.

In our time, there is a wide selection of registry cleaners to choose from. But whichever registry cleaner you choose, you have to make sure it covers the basic.

When I was having my registry problems, I decided to purchase Error Killer.

There were two major things that really made me purchase the software. First, it allows me to customize all my fixes. When Error Killer scans my computer, it allows me to uncheck all the errors that I do not want to be altered. On the other hand, Error Killer can also automatically fix all errors after the scan.

Another feature that sealed the deal for me is the safety feature of Error Killer. It has a greatly effective back up and undo system built in.

I am confident that if one of the changes affects my computer’s performance greatly, I can just restore the old registry that I have created a back up file of.

And checkout my great proxy list service now!
